What VDOAPP is
VDOAPP is a free video editor that opens in a web browser tab and does the heavy lifting on your own computer or phone. It combines a full multi-track timeline with a set of AI tools that normally require a subscription and an upload:
- Auto captions in 30+ languages using Whisper — including Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Tamil and Arabic in their own scripts — with translation into twelve languages.
- Background removal for people in video, and for any subject in photos.
- AI noise removal, silence removal and natural text-to-speech voiceovers.
- AI highlights that turn long footage into a short, an AI thumbnail maker, scene detection and auto zoom for talking heads.
- Smart reframe for vertical video, stabilisation, face blur, face stickers and 3D photo motion.
Underneath is a proper editor: frame-accurate trimming, speed curves, keyframes, 14 transitions, animated text, stickers, picture-in-picture with chroma key, .cube LUT colour grading, a sound-effects library and mixer, preview copies for 4K footage, .ts dash-cam support and frame-perfect MP4 export up to 4K.
Why on-device AI
The footage people edit is personal: children, homes, faces of friends, private conversations, sometimes evidence. Cloud editors ask you to hand all of that over to process it, and then usually charge for the server time. Modern browsers can run neural networks directly on your graphics card (WebGPU) or processor (WebAssembly), so we use that instead. Models are downloaded once from public model hosts and cached; your media never leaves your device.
That choice has costs, and we're open about them: the first use of each AI tool needs a download, and speed depends on your hardware. We think it's the right trade. Read how it works in detail →
How VDOAPP is free
There's no account, subscription, credit system or watermark. Because the processing happens on your device, our running costs are small. We cover them with advertising on the website's information pages — the guides and tool pages — and never inside the editor itself, and never on your videos.
Who it's for
- Creators producing Shorts, Reels and TikToks who want captions, highlights and reframing without a subscription.
- Creators in every language — especially South Asian and other languages that caption tools often handle badly.
- Small businesses making product videos from phone photos.
- Teachers and students on computers where installing software isn't allowed.
- Journalists, researchers and anyone handling sensitive footage who can't upload it to a third party.
- Drivers who need to pull a clip from dash-cam footage quickly.
Our guides
Tools are only half of good video. Our guides explain the craft behind them — why captions fail in some languages, how stabilisation crops your frame, how to cut to a song's phrases, what export bitrate means for file size. We test what we write in the editor, include real numbers where we have them, and state limitations plainly.
What we care about
- Privacy by architecture, not by promise: we can't see your videos because they never reach us.
- Honesty about limits. If a feature has a weakness — say, face detection missing tiny faces — we say so on the page.
- Every language. We test captions beyond English, including Bengali and Hindi, and choose models accordingly.
- Accessibility. Captions for every video, readable pages, keyboard shortcuts and respect for reduced-motion settings.
